Ouija 2000 Stencil
I love rapid sketching. But for UX design, every stencil I’d tried fell short.
So I synthesized my UI sketches into a set of common symbols, defined a grid system, and had them laser-cut into a stencil.

The semi-translucent acrylic was a key choice. The prior version of this, as well as most other stencils I’d tried, blocked out the imagery behind them. Too much transluscence made it hard to determine where the stencil was under certain lighting.
One thing that would have made this better is having beveled edges to allow for angled pens/pencils. So far I’m not aware of a way to do this with a laser cutter.

(I have many of these on hand so if you’re ever interested, I’ll be happy to give you one.)
